Years ago, I watched in admiration as a friend supervised his young son washing his hands. “Okay, remember your song?” he said, and the boy started into the Alphabet Song. Beautiful. That’s going to be a pretty consistent half-minute, AND he’s learning his alphabet. I was impressed.
I adopted a similar approach, but to combat procrastination. If I find myself stalling, balking at doing a task I for some reason find distasteful, I let myself put it off just long enough to sing one song, and then I get to it.
And yes, I consider the entirety of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” to be one song.

The poor kid is bored. In the real world he would be put in accelerated classes if he was lucky. But usually such children just fall through the cracks.

Maybe Caulfield should wash up to his elbows, doctor style, next time.

Give him the 3 minutes to write a Spenserian sonnet – the kind of classroom challenge he would enjoy.

Sadly, for me Caulfield today again reads as sassy and unpleasant. I like him much better when he is not like this.

Don’t know why he would skip class; he has so much fun usually disrupting it.

Isn’t there an “of” missing? I expected to hear “You just washed your hands of all but three minutes…”
