Many years ago, one of my buddies bought an old bank building, with all the fixtures, in Hartford, Ct. and opened a great bar and restaurant called The Last National Bank.
He even bought an old armoured car that he used for publicity.
I’ve been to George Square a number of times, but not lately. My late wife who was born in England but grew up in Scotland, as a young woman, worked as a receptionist, in a large hotel facing the square. At that time the hotel was called the North British Hotel. That was in the 1950’s.
There’s a shop in the Fairhaven district of Bellingham that used to be a bank at the turn of the century. I’ve never actually been in it, but it looks nice. Lots of nice old buildings in Fairhaven.
