True story: During the filming of “Throw Mamma From the Train”, there is a scene where Danny Devito smacks Billy Crystal in the head with a skillet. Naturally they used a rubber skillet and dubbed in a sound effect, but it was still heavy, and it hurt when Crystal got clobbered with it. Devito, who also directed the film, looked at the dailies, and he said, “Naaa, it doesn’t look right. Let’s do it again.” So they scrambled up some more eggs and filmed the scene again. Devito still didn’t like it, so they did it AGAIN. They did about ten takes of the scene, and each time Devito hits him harder. So by now there’s eggs flying all over the place, and Crystal has taken a lot of hits. When it was all done, Devito said, “You know…the first take really was the best one.” And that was the one they used. Somehow, they have remained good friends…

I think this is a job for Irritable Belle . . .
