When I was of cartoon-watching age, they only lasted until about 11:00 on Saturday. Then “serious” TV came on. By that time, it had been light for a long time; and everybody else was in motion.
We had a rule; the first kid up could pick what we would watch. I watched a lot of test patterns to the first so I could watch Bugs Bunny and all the rest.
Rocky and Bullwinkle taught me History, Art Appreciation, International Political Science, Mythology, and Science. Now watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!
When I was a kid the cartoons started at 6 and ended at noon. Plus every network had its own block of original programming. Nowadays only cartoon network and nickelodeon have cartoons.
Boy, THIS takes me back. I’m a baseball nut now but until I was about 10, I didn’t like it at all because my favorite cartoons were all on NBC, who usually pre-empted my cartoons for the Game of the Week between April and September. I wanted to watch Top Cat and Benny, not Mantle and Maris.

As a child, for us kids Saturday was chore day. Watch cartoons? HA! You’d be lucky to finish cleaning before wrestling came on at one pm.
