    Actually, a lot of the comedy routines I’ve seen could use that advice.

    Swearing in a joke is fine, but swearing by itself really isn’t funny.

    Tried watching “Bright”, the new SciFi show with Will Smith. Good premise, but the gratuitous language didn’t sit well with me. I’m hardly a prude, but cussin’ for the sake of cussin’ is distracting at the very least. Smith can do better.

    Funny, reading the reactions, you all are so sensitive about swearing.

    However, when America exports it’s culture (movies, music, comedy, …), it’s full of swearing. In most non-native english countries, your english swearwords are used as stop-words in their own native languages. For example, tourists will have the impulse to use swearwords as stop-words in english, just to sound more American. For you, the result is that they are rude, while they only try to blend-in.
