My bank is down the block (my definition of “down the block” is 1/2 mile away) from where I work. My wife uses me as her ambulatory ATM machine. She writes me checks and I cash them for her. I sometimes even get cash for myself. $100 will last me months. I seldom use cash. I use the credit card for everything – I get cash back.

My branch could not give me four thousand in cash. I had to wait while they ran around staring at me, it was as if I was up to something nefarious.

I always like to keep a $20 stashed in the back of my wallet. Get cash? Isn’t that what grocery checkout machines are for?

I like to see my money before I spend it.
