My writing leaned to the left and no matter what I did, I could not change it. Still do it to this day. My dad went down to the school and told my teacher to back off. It was ledgible and she could read it, so who cared? He was my hero <3
Now, my kids do not even get graded on their penmanship. Both were taught just enough cursive to write their first names. I had to ask their teachers to be tougher on their printing.

Back in the day when there was penmanship. I wonder how historians will even be able to read cursive in 50 years, when no one is being taught to write or understand it now . . . given, of course, that we still have written books of any kind then.
I always did my homework on the bus ride home. Everything must have been okay because the teachers never complained about my penmanship — either to me or my parents.
In elementary school, we had full classes in penmanship, with inkwells. I could do my push-pulls and ovals with incredible precision – but my handwriting, while legible, was anything but aesthetic. Now that effective tremor has set in, I fear being charged with practicing medicine without a license.

I used to get marked down too. Couldn’t write legibly with the lean to the right, and smeared. (left handed)
