CharlieGirl: You read my mind. My second thought was “How would she like to wash and dry everything by hand?”
Along those lines, one of the recent popes said that the greatest thing that ever happened for women in developing countries was the introduction of the washing machine.
There is just the two of us and ,in retirement now,we eat out quite often so, even though we have dishwashers in our home and in our vacation/winter home, we almost never use them!
Sigh. A dishwasher. Here I am 49 years old and the only time I ever had one was in an apartment in my 20s. I still wash them by hand as my 1972 home doesn’t have one, and my tiny 9×9 kitchen has no space for one.
My satisfaction is when it’s filled again and the kitchen is cleaned. Now that we’re empty nesters, it actually stays that way for a while. I swore that when my kids were at home, nothing made them hungrier than the site of a clean kitchen.

I love hearing it washing away – it reminds me of all that time I don’t have to stand there with my hands in hot water!

First appliance I bought my wife was a dish washing machine. I HATED drying dishes.

Emptying the dishwasher is at the same level as putting the vacuum cleaner away; there’s already more to be done.

A) Love the J logo!B) I live alone and do dishes by hand, but I’d swear there are more dishes to wash than I use.

I wash, the wife dries. Good bonding time, as if we actually need it after 33 years.

She should try using the dishwasher when six people live in the house!

Then doing them by hand instead of the over use of water from the machine must make one feel like all of the Justice League?

This is all housework for me. I feel so good when it’s done then I realize a couple of hours later, I have to do it again. :(

Hand washing your dishes is a snap if you let the dog do your pre-washing for you.
