The art is this feature, even if the setting is meant to be a mundane one, is always adventurous and exploratory.

The language, especially the coined words, names, and categories is a delight to behold.

But this is just one of too many strips where the creator’s obvious talent is over and over put in service to one off-the-cuff, shoot-from-the-hip, simpleminded and unthinking popular prejudice or other that is pronounced every day by the teeming masses of unthinking louts, nattering endlessly. Today it’s all film and TV personnel are vainglorious snobs engaged in a public orgy of self pleasuring. Yesterday it was aren’t people who believe in a mind behind the material just stupid slaves to the self-enriching masters who exploit them? Tomorrow, let’s have some uneducated commentators looking at abstract expressionist paintings and declaring with disgust that their three year old child can do better than that.

The writer/artist is smarter and better than that. We’ve got plenty those dollar store critiques to go around. We need some insights worthy of the evident talent behind this feature.

BONUS POINTS… How many tortuous and torturous mixed metaphors can you find in this post? I mean this one. Mine. The one you just finished reading.

There is a local amateur wildcard entry: Oscar Wilde Elementry’s production of Rocky Horror.
