The Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church (not to be confused with the Orthodox Church) is under the Pope but allows married priests. And I remember years ago when a flock of Episcopalian priests rebelled against some too-liberal doctrine, the Pope gave the married priests dispensation to become Catholic priests (though celibate; yeah, right).
So what’s the problem? A married priesthood would be a major step toward reducing the various victimizations. (Let’s keep an eye on the issue of the lack of priests in the Amazon region. That could crack the door open.)
They hold a series of votes, all while making Jiffy Pop. If they overcook and get black smoke, the vote failed. If it’s white smoke, we have a new Pope-corn. All hail St. Orville Mazola!

Sounds like nonsense, doesn’t it? Nothing like real life, of course.
