It’s easier than trying to remember their names.

This is why smaller congregations are better. You’re a real person and the rector/rabbi/pastor knows who you are.

Not certain how our Pastor does it, the church started as a newbie from a parent church as a church plant and in 60 years grew. I think 30 years ago outgrew building was in and built a bigger building, the church went through several Pastors until 10 years ago and found one who helped our church grow more over 1400 to 1500 and 270 children. Elder’s assigned to help members with prayer requests.

Isn’t Pastor one of the umpteen children of the Pastor(retired) who married our nurses(name escapes me, I cry senior moment) mother, thus instantly gaining 11 brothers.

Our minister sometimes calls me Sister, sometimes Daughter. I sometimes call him Dad. :)

My Dad was a pastor to a congregation of around 500 folks. He never would tell me how he did it, but he knew all their names, and all the children’s names, too.

I wish I was in a tradition like that, where I could just call everybody sister or brother. They can get by just calling me pastor, which I think is really unfair.
