Where exactly is a padú? It seems South American to me. As for the car in space, how did they manage to put it into the shuttle?

Does RBIoN believe that there are still some of us that haven’t heard of Elon Musk’s Tesla yet?

Yeah, we think the whole car into space is cool and all, but just wait a couple of years when it comes back and bring the LocNar with it.

I have to say this: Elon Musk sounds like a man’s Avon product.

The whole car deal smacks of gigantic ego to me. We already have tons of space junk orbiting Earth. At least the other stuff went up there for some purpose.

I hope the spare tyre and fuel were included. It’s had to find one in the orbit.

Considering that Cornell ( an Ivy League school) is in Ithaca, NY, at the head of Cayuga Lake ( one of the Finger lakes, 40 miles long and 1 mile wide, about 300-400’ deep), that’s not a bad idea. My youngest brother, Mike, graduated from Cornell some 40+ years ago. Yeah, I know; I’m old.

Why in God’s green earth were resources wasted to put a POS car in space?

I love the idea of the swim test. Universities pride themselves as giving a well-rounded education to help students navigate the world outside of the hallowed halls. Well, if drowning is the 5th most common way to die, then why not ensure those well-rounded kids can at least swim to safety if they find themselves in water higher than their waist? I wish more colleges required this, as well as throwing in basic first aid (CPR, Heimlich, Etc)

That swim test was a dang nuisance. If I remember correctly (it was 31 years ago), it was 3 laps in an Olympic size pool, one lap had to be freestyle, one lap had to be backstroke, and the third was our choice.

I am a very slow swimmer; it took me at least twice as long as anyone else taking the test, and by the time I was done I was so worn out I had to sit in the shallow end for a while to recover because my legs collapsed under me when I first tried to stand up to go up the stairs.

And all (according to rumor) to absolve the university of any liability should we accidentally fall into Beebe Lake.
