Cats can be very single minded. If Peekaboo is anything like the cats I have known, thee will be further, more forceful attempts to solve the food issue.
And this is why I close the bedroom door at night. The last time I left it open I was wakened to the sound of an upcoming hairball next to my pillow. Ewww!

We always left out dry food for our cats so they had something to eat.
