How many people work at your company? Oh, about half of them.

I finished a 3-hour p. chem final in 15 minutes, my best friend finished in 30. When I handed my exam in, the prof smugly said “Gave up, I see”. While by friend and I were discussing the exam, the prof came out with a glazed look on his face and asked if we knew how we did. I said, “I got a 100% and Karen got a 94% because she missed question x.” He just said, “you’re right, you’re both right.” Now the beauty of it was he always referred to us as a couple of dumb blondes. I figured he had a Napoleon complex (he was about 5’ 3", my friend & I are 5’ 8" and natural blondes). Talk about sweet revenge!

My shortest time on a really tough quiz was about 3 minutes. It was the first test in a vector mechanics, aka Dynamics, and the first question was so difficult, that it would have taken me an hour or two to do, even using the book and notes. I think that it would have involved using ‘determinates’, about four or five times in a row, but I did not know how to set them up. I read the question twice, to memorize it, more or less, didn’t even look at the rest of the questions, wrote my name on the paper, turned it in, and then went straight to the registrar’s office and dropped the course. I took it later with an instructor whose test questions were in the same league of difficulty as the homework, instead of the Einstein level of difficulty. I got an ‘A’ in that course with the alternate instructor, but still had no idea how to have worked the first problem on the first test with the first instructor. (And still don’t!)
