I do in fact read the bylines these days, as an indicator of how much weight to give to the article. Sad, but true. You have to be a savvy consumer of news.
Back when I was working for The Daily Orange at Syracuse University, I was complimenting a fellow student, saying that someday she’d work for The Times or The Post. She got upset because she thought I meant the New York Post. Had to tell her I meant Washington.
