People die from sleep apnea. I use a CPAP mask and have slept a lot better since I started. I no longer have dreams of driving my car off a high cliff and wake up with my heart pounding and hyperventilating to get some oxygen back in my system. I come up with more of the answers on Jeopardy, and I make more effective use of my time. This may sound like a PSA, and perhaps it is, but the snoring is actually the healthier part of sleep apnea. It’s when you’re quiet that you may not be breathing and your brain is starting to become oxygen deprived.
I have used a CPAP machine since 1999……using the the 3rd or 4th iteration of the device, and I still LOVE it! I used it the first night and it changed my life. All those symptoms mentioned by Charlie Fogwhistle ( plus a few others ) are gone and I have been a fully rested, satisfied sleeper ever since. So have my sleeping partners ( esposa, gato and perro ).
I hate it – it is uncomfortable, noisy, and I am constantly aware of it even in what passes for deep sleep when wearing it – plus it causes constant lesions in my nose. But She insists I use it – and I do visit the facilities once a night instead of every 40 minutes without it.

Do men really snore more than women? I know both my parents snore.
