It appears that the entire crowd is silent. No jeers. No accusations. Everyone is silent, including the guards and Philo. The calm before a storm? Before a tsunami? Before an earthquake?
I see a single giraffe in the crowd. Pre-shadowing? Otherwise, short of Marx popping it, rather grim for a comic. But I guess the whole post-apocalypse theme goes with that.
One small step for Philo……with a sudden stop at the end. A poem.Hickory Dickory DockPhilo went up the clockThe clock struck noonAll too soonAnd Philo came to a stop.
You think that when it gets revealed that Philo didn’t do it there might be a mass Schism outbreak? At least for Portia, she’s desperate to have someone to blame and if she found out that Philo wasn’t the one who did it, it might just break her.
I thought we would see Walt and Portia or anyone else we know. The miracle would be if the pig cop had been still investigating and finds whoever framed Philo. Then he might come running up with the real culprit in cuffs. I could see that happening or the trap door opens and Walt is ready to catch him still it could take 2 or more days to get from Here, to any conclusion, so much Could happen.
If anyone is going to do something, it’s going to be one of the other reporters. Maybe he’ll ask for an interview with Philo to get any last words and confessions, which ends up running long…

There’s just four of the rats around you, Foxworthy, and you’re twice as big as any one of ’em. Dive into the crowd and see what they do.

Maybe Philo’s come to terms that he was an idiot dancing to the Piper’s tune. And now it’s time to Pay the Piper

“And so the guard asks, why the long face?” And I say “Genetics.” He laughed, I laughed. He pushed me off the towe-HURRRRK!

The only face seen in today’s strip is the Clock Tower’s, and I’m thinking it’s the only one that won’t react to what happens next.

If a miracle is going to happen, there’s only seconds on the clock…

Endtown is a very black and white world that has many shades of grey.

What strikes me most about today’s strip is the absolute silence and stillness of the crowd. No incidents during Philo’s grim walk to the clock tower.
Still hoping for an 11th-hour (high noon hour?) rescue of Philo.

I can picture it on film silent and everyone hardly moving but the murder victim and his armed guards.

Well, someone’s going to say it: Fox Noose.

Oh boy, more pointless murder that could have been completely avoided but they need a scapegoat.
