FIRST: Publicly announce that under NO circumstances will Nancy Pelosi be the Speaker of the House when the Democrats win it back. This will “ensure” that they DO win it back!
The ancient Trump calling younger Clinton a granny – the Democrat leaders are older than the Republicans – and they are more liberal as well. I’ll vote for someone on their record, not age.
We really do need to revitalize our political system with, perhaps, more idealistic, youthful candidates. While there are a few good Dems in politics, it is still an old persons choice of careers. Like most old people of both parties, old politicians don’t “get it” that the future is in our youth. If they did believe that the Youth of our nation is our future, they would listen to what the youth has to say and start implementing some of the advancements that the young in our nation really, really, really want. You don’t really need list, all you have to do is look around, you can see what we need to do about our future.
She’s crazy if she thinks she can convince Sanders Dems to vote for Clinton Dems in the mid-terms. A lot of them were disenfranchised by the party to keep “her” as the primary candidate. Its a sting that is not easily forgotten by those who have donated time and effort for what they believe in just to have the rug pulled from under them via their corrupted system that they accuse Republicans of having.
Led by the new, the younger, and more vital voters this November, all the old, sour, lazy, corrupt, and just plain worthless on both sides will be retired from congress. finally!
Their problem is, alas, not with Ensure but with Sennacot. They should retire and stay home to be near to their children or their children’s little ones and to be near to their own small rooms.
There is an age limit to be president, be in congress, the military etc. There should be an age limit when they take their old asses home and let politicians not on the edge of dementia run the country.
I tend to agree that the Democratic Party needs new leaders, but we mustn’t fall into the trap of “ideological purity” on our way to achieving it. The Republicans HAVE descended into that morass on more than one occasion, and it has effectively destroyed their party structure – the Republicans are ‘recreating’ the Whigs of the 1850’s at the moment, and it’s not pretty!
The Democrats MUST maintain the “big tent” aspect of our party – rejecting an idea simply because it isn’t YOURS is the way to Republicanism. Entertaining new ideas is the only way the “old farts” among us are going to be able to stave off political senility.
I am reminded of the words of my late father-in-law, who used to say that he didn’t mind people disagreeing with him because, people SHOULD be allowed to be WRONG, occasionally! (and you never know when the ‘pearl’ in the cow manure will be found, as well!)

What we need is a committed core (and corps) of progressives to splinter off and found a progressive party.

Nancy Pelosi is 78, Paul Ryan is 48
Chuck Schumer is 68, McConnell is 76
Joe Biden (isn’t in an elected position) is 76, Trump is 72
but sure – the Democrats are old…
