Give Carmen credit for honesty. About being ageist, that is.

When my great grandad was 90 years old, he would have made a better President than any of the recent crop, and four years later he was still sound of mind and body.

While JFK was 43, I think he was a bit too inexperienced in global politics for the job. (of course he wasn’t the Prez who was deficient there) Given that we are all living longer and healthier, I don’t see the problem with older and hopefully (thou not in the examples listed above) wiser candidates. Part of the problem is mass media, which does take sides (there was never a picture of FDR in a wheelchair or being lifted from it to a chair-it would have detracted from the narrative). The premise is that if you have lived longer and experienced more, you have a better viewpoint on the world, and a track record from which you can be judged.

    Don’t forget Bill Weld. He’ll be 75 in 2020.
