My kids would have had that cookie snapped out of their paw and then bunged in their rooms so fast it would make their heads spin. There were no âwork aroundsâ in my house.
My mom raised us with a healthy â3 squareâ meals plan, but we occasionally got dessert first. I guess when she was a kid, she always wanted dessert before dinner, and swore that when she was a parent she would serve dessert first â she made good on that, and we still stayed healthy. A little flexibility in meals is fine.
This is my daughter Katie speaking. Word for wordâŠand I thought it was great. Over and over, kids can get the better of youâbut cuteness and comedy save their bacon.
Better forget that âstuntâ, Elizabeth, Mom has put that in the depths of âMomâs File of âstuntsâ that kids pullâ and she will be waiting in ambush the next time you try it ! ! ! !
An idea for tomorrowâs strip could be Elly giving Elizabeth nothing but piles of okra, broccoli, and succotash, with prune juice to drink. Elly could say âYou had the cookie, now eat all this!â

The saying is âItâs Better to Beg for Forgiveness than to Ask for Permissionâ, but clearly Lizzie thinks the opposite is true.

The solution for that is to not have any cookies in the house unless youâre treating the family on a certain day!

My mother worked 2nd shift, so we would get cake for breakfast sometimes. It was FOOD and that was good enough.

What is the point of baking cookies if nobody is allowed to eat them? A cookie is not generally a bg deal.

I always helped myself, and never mentioned the âcookieâ word to anyone. Worked for me!

I had two favorites for afterschool snacking: celery with cream cheese or toasted rye bread with peanut butter.
