“I can’t go on any longer. I guess you win” sounds like a concession to me. Is there any other way to read it more carefully? Unless she’s trying play politician and twist the words until they’re meaningless.
“I guess….” It’s sneaky, but it’s a qualifier rather than a definite..And he neglected to notice where her ball might be..In fact, since her ball was still in the air, even if she “can’t go on”, he still stopped his ball before she stopped hers. Sneaky, maybe, but feinting isn’t against the rules in a game.
