Sometimes, I think Dad forgets Calvin is 6 years old.

I confess these recent strips are not the witty strips that I remember.

I think Dad is a lot dumber than we thought.

When I was a kid my Dad & I were out in a boat fishing on a lake and he told me to throw out the anchor. So I grabbed the big anchor and tossed it overboard….. So away went the anchor, the rope and everything.I had forgot to tie the anchor rope to the boat and so it’s all still laying at the bottom of the lake to this day.Today’s cartoon just reminded me of that . . .

No, no, this is great. Calvin makes such a disaster of the camping trip Dad will never take him on another one.

Question for fellow commenters: Since Monday, if someone hasn’t already commented on a given strip on my list, I see no comment box. At first I thought “Wee Pals” wasn’t allowing comments, but then I remembered that I have often been the first and only commenter on that strip. Is anyone else having this issue, or is it just me because I live in Europe and it’s yet another effect of the ersatz “data protection law”?

I recall someone dropping a flashlight and helplessly watching the light slowly fade. Would we feel better if we could have turned the flashlight off?

You DO NOT hand a 6-year-old anything irreplaceable, especially near water. :P

Dad should have known better than to hand Calvin a camera to put on shore! Why not just hand it to Mom?

Have they come to the storyline yet to where his father wanted him to play a real sport instead of “Calvin Ball”? When I read it in the papers years ago, I only came to the last few days of it. To avoid spoilers, I won’t tell you how it ended. Of course, some of you who’s been reading this strip for years already know how it ended.

When I park near a storm drain, I clutch my keys for dear life. I have a fear of them falling into drain.

I think that not learning from past mistakes is another of the faults which Calvin gets from his dad.

When I was in scouts I was taught the following

When handing something to another person wait until they say “Thank You” before you let go. “Thank You” means I have a firm grip and it is safe for you to let go.

Back then, dropping a camera in water was bad. Now people do it on purpose.

    What I can’t figure out(other than handing anything to Calvin)is how it can be ‘10 feet’ deep two inches from shore—one ‘Whale of a drop-off’ ! ! ! !

The way this is drawn, DAD is the one that dropped it, but he blames Calvin. Calvin frequently brings doom on himself, but this one isn’t his fault.

In the second panel it shows Mom on shore helping Calvin get out. Why does Mom’s comment in the last panel appear to be coming from the direction of the canoe?

Dad is an idiot. Never entrust an expensive thing like a camera to a kid. Especially in a situation like this. Hand it to Mom, or take it yourself. Stupid Dad.

All Dad’s fault. You don’t unload a canoe until it’s securely on shore.

Mom and Dad could have a great deal more fun camping without Calvin… but that would entail the terrifying risk of producing a Calvin sibling…
