Mom doesn’t want to perform CPR on Hobbes.
I wonder if Bill knew that tigers are good swimmers in real life, hence the joke.
Can STUFFED tigers swim?
Mom is, as always, even when she is lying, right – Tigers do get wet behind the ears when they swim…
If this doesn’t work, Hobbes can always be the lifeguard.
I keep seeing a Navy Pilot for some reason…
hahahaahah, Hobbes’ look, and his annoyed body language. Terrific.
Calvin avoiding arguments is like opossums avoiding cars.
Excellent idea Calvin, safety first.
Strange. In first panel Hobbes is a stuffed toy, I thought he is a toy only in presence of adults.
Why did you even ask?
Does anyone else think the wording in the 1st panel sounds a bit awkward? Not sure why the word “in” is there unless Watterson originally had “in the water” in mind but later changed it to “swimming” and forgot to take out the “in”.
Fur will become wet and it will dry hardly!!
Mom is clueless!
But she does know a thing about water-logged stuffed animals.
Where are Hobbes’ swimming trunks or is he going skinny-dipping? Or, in his case, furry-dipping.
