    Tony’s QOTD: Popeye or Batman?

I don’t get the Batman thing. I’d ask Popeye or Captain Blood (he’s Irish).

But this Popeye thing will stop when he hears about spinach.

    Is it 9-19 yet?!?

I’m pretty sure Batman isn’t Irish.

Fun fact: Today and tomorrow is “Stadtgründungsfest” (City founding festivities) here in Munich – and we’ll attend the Irish part of it today. Plods will approve.

I think you’ll find the “pirate/sailor” accent is more Cornish than Irish. With perhaps a bit of Welsh mixed in, as “Treasure Island” opens in the port town of Cardiff (Wales). One of the delights of a recent trip to England was hearing an elderly Cornishman tell a story. I was transported back a century at least.
