I had a cat who always showed up in the kitchen when I opened cans of vegetables. I usually ended up showing her one of the beans, etc. to convince her I wasn’t sneaking any of her food.

Hobbes just loves that can opening sound.

Nowadays tins are opened with a clip on the tin not with a tin-opener!!

Actually I don’t think tigers eat tuna.

I never give cats names. They never come when you call, unless you can make a noise like a can opener.

Exactly Hobbes; you can’t risk losing out on a great tuna meal!

Actually, that tin looks more tuna-sized than pineapple. So Hobbes could be forgiven for being mistaken.

Oh can it, already!

How did we get the idea of fish being natural food for cats? They hate being immersed in water. Ever see a cat catching fish?

All but one of my dogs hated water – but they loved eating fish.

On the other hand – we had a cat who was fascinated with the water in the bird baths, and one of my sister’s cats loved to swim. She had to lock him out of the room when she was showering.

The beast awakens…again.

That was uncanny !

This strip reminds me of my late cat. Any time he’d hear a can opening, he’d automatically assume it was for him and come right over. Heck, when he’d hear the pantry door open he’d come right over because he’d think we were getting out his dinner! I love Hobbes looking sorry in the last panel.
