At first I thought the bird had pecked a hole in the glass, then I realized that a squirrel had left them there and the crow —always attracted to shiny objects has decided to move them. which means that eventually they will end back with Jane through some complicated route.
Rest easy – Jane seems to be near-sighted, so her lens would diffuse the light, not concentrate it. To start a fire you’d the specs of a far-sighted person, despite what William Golding wrote.

No fires!
We’ve had enough of that here.
This is set out in what we call the “west county,” which hasn’t had much fire activity recently…..
But we’re all jumpy….
Paige’s studio is “in town” …. so close to the huge October wildfires,
that I don’t know whether she’d ever consider that a funny storyline again!
Of course, anything for humor, in cartoon land…. so I know I may have to eat my words.
Or crow?
