The real victim is going to be the Constitution if the right gets their way.

Droutma: “The real victim is going to be the Constitution if the right gets their way.”

Alwaysright: “You mean if the people get their way. Following the Constitution has gotten us here.”

Alwaysright isn’t right. If the Constitution was being honored, the Electoral College would have done their job, which was to prevent the election of a demonstrably incompetent, immoral, and arguably criminal person to the presidency. Merrick Garland would have at the very least had a vote on his nomination. The concentration of money and therefore political power in the hands of a very few at the expense of the many certainly contradicts the spirit of the Constitution.

The prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment would be honored. (The people who approved the language of the eighth amendment would not have approved of kidnapping children. At least, not white ones, and I thought we’d rather improved on that.)

Gee, too bad Gorrell didn’t have a comment when the GOP STOLE THE PREVIOUS SEAT ILLEGALLY.

Also, “the left”? Seriously? The current Democratic party is roughly the same as the GOP center that no longer exists. There IS no left in major politics in the US. Bernie Sanders is a an FDR-era New Dealer, which used to be the center in the Democratic Party and is now seen as far left.

The Scariest days for me where right before the 2004 election when the Republicans were talking openly about canceling the election if Al-Qaeda attacked us. I was fighting in Iraq at the time so I could not judge how serious this was. I wonder what will happen now that the GOP will have such control over the Supreme Court. What will happen if Trump wants to cancel the election of 2020. I expect that the Congress will be in Democratic hands, the Senate won’t be and Government will be stalemated. Trump will be more frustrated than he is now and will be looking for allies in the first battle of the worst constitutional crisis since 1860.

Democracy shouldn’t be the tyranny of the majority and opposition shouldn’t mean obstruction. Boehner and McConnel have done more real damage to America than Bin laden. Eight years of rank obstructionism under Obama and the hijacking of the Senate now will leave a lasting black mark on American democracy. And the Republican party.

Gee Bob, I can think of so many things to put under the Gavel. 1 Free Speech (Press is the enemy of the people) 2 14th amendment Due Process (No due process to take guns no due process for immigrants no due process for search or cell phones) 3 14th amendment Birthright citizenship ( Trump claims not all people born in the United states are legal residents) 4 Roe V Wade (Abortion Medical Rights) 5 Russia investigation ( will the Two Trump appointees really vote to uphold the legality of the Muller investigation?) 6 Democracy (Will the Supreme court allow a “Postponement” of the election of 2020?)

What planet do you spend most of your time on, Mr Gorrell? (And I won’t bother to mention that “Kennedy Vacancy” is nonsensical.)

This cartoon is inaccurate. It shows the left just standing there and allowing itself to be hit with the hammer with a look of resignation. If anything the battle against the oppressive hammer of conservatism has barely begun.

And as unfair decisions come down that are based on conservative ideology and not constitutional law, the Supreme Court’s integrity will become more tarnished and mistrusted that it already is. Dark times ahead people…dark times. If you think civility seems dead now…just wait two more years.

This cartoon seems to take pleasure in how people feel about losing this seat. Kind of sick…

This cartoon is right on; shows the Republican values that everything they do must result in someone getting hurt. Or crushed.

The sky is falling The sky is falling.

What do the following names have in common? Hugo Black, Stanley F. Reed, Felix Frankfurter, William O. Douglas, Frank Murphy, James F. Byrnes, Robert H. Jackson, Harlan F. Stone and Wiley Blount Rutledge.

All 9 of them were appointed to SCOTUS by FDR. Plus 51 Appellate Judges. 133 District Judges. 13 “Specialty” Court Judges.

    Take a step back. Breath.
