This one reminded me of the old joke about the stand-up comedian who was drafted during WWII. He reports to the induction center, and after standing in line for a while he finally reaches the desk where a sargeant is sitting, ready to go over his paperwork.
“It says here you’re a comedian,” the sargeant says.
“That’s right.”
“Well, say something funny.”
Without missing a beat, the guy turns around and looks at the long line of guys behind him, and shouts out, “You guys can all go home now. The job’s been filled.”
People do expect comedians to be funny at a moments notice. Most of it is a lot of hard work and then you never really know how it will be received. A lot like being a cartoonist – which is basically a sit- down comedian.

A guy I use to know wanted to be a stand-up comic. But he was rather unfunny. It takes a lot of work and some degree of talent to be a stand-up comic.

With political correctness, Stand-up Comedy is. Really challenging!
