When two of my brothers were young (10 & 11) and would start fighting with each other our dad would send them out in the garage with boxing gloves and they couldnât come back in the house till they could be âcivilâ with each other. They grew up to be the best of friends.
When I was in High School, guys who were caught fighting were often escorted to the Gym where they were laced into pairs of large âpillow sizedâ boxing gloves and told to keep hitting each other until they were âover itâ.
Most people thought the oversized boxing gloves were so they wouldnât be able to actually hurt each other.
In truth, the real reason for those gloves is that they were so Heavy that, after only a few minutes, your arms felt like they were going to fall off.
Most of those âFightsâ ended when one or both of the fighters could no longer hold their arms up, much less swing another punch.
I donât think boxing is a great idea for a kid with leukemia. She may need an outlet for her anger, but not one that involves getting punched hard a lot.
