A couple of years ago, we had one of Atlanta’s famous ice storms. My wife put some bread out on our deck for the birds. I saw a stray, hungry cat eating the bread, and put out some leftover meat for her. Now, guess what sleeps in the bed with us.
Our cat is very happy this morning. She woke me up at 6, kept yelling until I got up, and has been happily snoozing on my pillow next to my husband ever since.
The only real dating/marriage advice my dad ever gave me was to not get involved with a man who doesn’t like cats. First of all, I love cats and wouldn’t be happy without one. Second, you can’t boss a cat the way you can a dog, and as a rule people who don’t like felines want to have their own way all the time.
Our Sugar sleeps between us. All of our babies are rescued each one has a story of how we found them. Dixie (6 years old now) was found in a box beside the road we heard her while walking the dog. Sugar (4 years old)and Lila (9 months old)were drop offs. Dallas( almost 2)fell from a car engine in front of the the house. Torti (16 months) was being neglected. All are inside kitties now happy happy happy. Plus our original kitty Tigger (12 years old). House full of sweet babies.
One thing “doing something right” means is never go on vacation and leave the cat behind. As a pet sitter, I hate watching cats. They get really weird when their owners aren’t around.

Jimmy made me smile today and have a warming in my heart. Today’s strip brought back memories of the cats that adopted us and have since gone on.
A house without a cat might be a little cleaner, but it certainly is a lot emptier.

Robert Heinlein, the late sf author, apparently liked cats, which mitigated my strong dislike of the politics he developed as he aged and grew rich.
