One doesn’t have to have a brother on the football team to meet hunky guys. My older brother wasn’t on a single sports team, but his best friend was the school’s sports hero. Unfortunately for me, I was also like a little sister to him! (40 years later & they’re still best friends.) Also unfortunately, my brother was hunky & popular so girls would “befriend” me to get close to him. It never worked, of course, but my brother DID date my best friend for a little bit, which I was all for. It didn’t work out, but we’re all still friends.
I’ve never heard of a kid being cut from football. Baseball basketball yes. But anyone can make a contribution to a football team. In fact you need non starters for practice.
My son made the football team, but not the basketball team (just not his sport), but attended most of the basketball games since some of his football friends were on the BB team. After one BB game we were following the minivan with the cheerleaders back to the school because it was having a problem. It did break down and pulled over to the shoulder.
So we loaded all the girls into our truck (Ford Bronco). Our son didn’t seem to mind being sandwiched in like a sardine. Except for me, the driver, I don’t think there was an empty lap.The back was a tangle of bodies. We were thanked by the girls and their parents for delivering them safely to the school. It must have looked like a clown car as we unloaded in the school parking lot. Last of all to thank us was our son. I don’t think he could recall anything about the game.
I made the first cut for the basketball team, but not the second, which was an actual game. I did feel the game wasn’t quite fair because the previous “stars” did a lot of ball hogging…
No one was “cut” from my H. S.’s sports team (small school). We just waited for who “suited up” for the game. The number of those who “suited up” for a game depended whether it was a home or away game.
That’s okay Paige. If you started dating that boy, then Peter might start dating a cheerleader from a rival school, and next thing you know, your nose will get broken.

I remember being cut from the baseball team. I can laugh about it now, but it was devastating back then.
