A few days ago (or maybe a few weeks ago? I’m almost as old as Walt haha) – Someone posted a link to a website with a timeline of Gasoline Alley. I neglected to make a note of it at the time but I’d love a second chance if someone would be so kind as to share once again. Thank you.
I’m only now realizing the names in the first panel are variants of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – the names given to the four Gospels of the New Testament.

If anyone ever opts to revive “Mutt & Jeff,” they should give Jim a call, to see if he’d be interested. ✨❤️✨

Shazam’s anachronistic, alas; it was coined nearly twenty years later.

Jim was an assistant for George Breisacher on M & J and did the final weeks by himself then moved on to work as Dick Moore’s assistant on GA

MUTT (to Walt): Shazam?
WALT: Yes. A 10-year-old boy, last name of Beck, said he made up the name but we could use it if we wanted to.
or alternatively:
WALT: Yes. Some guy said it was his name and he could use it. I remember it had a weird return address: “Subway Tunnel, Fawcett City”.
