Yeah, no. I did one of those foot pressure tests, and the correction the “professionals” gave me impacted my ankles. I’ll pass on that…

I would fail at that. I don’t run. I wear cross-trainers per my podiatrist’s recommendation for the kind of support and flexibility my feet need. I walk, but not run. HOWEVER :o), I am considering joining a “couch to 5 k” group. I will have to wait until my broken foot is healed (and I get the ok from my podiatrist) and the weather is cooler. Hopefully by mid-Oct/early Nov. Since I REALLY like it cold, later is better.

My brother-in-law, who is a cardiologist, says don’t run, take a brisk walk instead. It’s just as good for your heart and a LOT better on your joints, especially your knees. He also says its particularly true if you are 55 or older.

I thought Betty had a foot injury? How can she run for evaluation?

My favourite bicycle store has a contraption like that. They use it to adjust handlebars, saddles and cranks to get a better fit. I had my bike set up by them and it remains comfortable 30+ years later. My new ones as well.

The kind of runner she is — or has been up to now — is one who runs while wearing shoes, so I don’t see how running barefoot will give any truly relevant information.
