Poor choice of words coupled with bad timing – sure ticket to Spookville. The other guys work for The Lone Haranguer

But… the Fink’s staff is full of crooks!

The shepherd’s crook is used for catching sheep. They can even lift lambs out of gulches by hooking the necks, without harming them.

So the king is admitting he has crooks in his staff.

The king is overly sensitive, since the cow"boy" was actually calling the shepherd a “fink”.

Such is life… and not just in Id.
