When the present fridge was new it sounded like a motorcycle running in the kitchen. It’s quieter now. I guess the rough spots have worn down. Or I’m deafer.
With one refrigerator we had, we were told it would occasionally make a knocking sound and not to be concerned. Well, it would knock really loud like someone was at the door or someone wanted out of the refrigerator. Never did get used to that.
Sometimes you hear a noise, sometimes you don’t. Over the course of a week my wife was asking me to help find a strange metallic vibrating noise she would hear when she walked into our bathroom. I’d walk in with her and guess what. No noise. I asked if it might be the louvers of the AC vent. She said no, it was coming from another place in the bathroom. After a few days of this she said: “You must think I’m crazy.” (I didn’t think she was crazy). A couple of days later I walked in and heard the noise. Sure enough it was coming from where she thought is was. A bit of investigation revealed the source, and after adjusting the louver on the baseboard heat the noise is gone. My reward was a big “You’re my hero” hug. Not expected but very nice. :-)
Peter actually said something somewhat intelligent for a change. That’s really out of character for him. If the food’s cold, everything’s fine. She probably just wants a new frige to match the other appliances.

I would get concerned if I don’t hear anything from the refrigerator.

A few a times a day the icemaker dumps some cubes (well, quarter-disks) into the bin; it never fails to make Her jump and ask “What was that?!”
