I recall there was an earlier version of the show with a different kid, before Timmy. I wonder why we never hear of him. The kid had a buddy, and they had a “secret” call that sounded like “eekee-ahkee.”
Just like when some comic strips occassionally take rerun weeks (or a long rerun indefinate run or something like that if you count Peanuts, For Better or For Worse, and 2 strips that cut to daily rerun mode/first run Sunday mode – Get Fuzzy (I wish it ended before 2018 ends!) and Doonesbury.
I used to hate the shows where Lassie would ‘get away or get lost’ somehow and they’d be a show or two (or three?) where she’d be trying to get back home and they’d be out looking for her. As a five or six year old kid three weeks of her being gone seemed forever. Plus at that age I didn’t know enough about TV shows to realize that she ‘had’ to make it back or no show!!

Timmy was a klutz. That scene was not even in the script; he fell into the well during the filming and the director decided to keep the scene.

I thought Timmy never did fall down a well. He fell down lots of other things, but never a well, strangely enough.

I fell in love with this show, Lassie, as a kid watching the old reruns!

They rehearsed it over and over again so that Timmy would be well practiced.

Isn’t that the episode where Timmy discovered that Lassie could understand multiple commands and instructions?

“Like you can’t tell me they never…” Rover said the opposite of what he meant.
