I LOVE artichokes. They’re basically thistles with big flowers. I planted an artichoke garden in my backyard, and I get free artichokes all summer long, every year. Toward the end of summer, I just let the flowers bloom, and they’re pretty purple frizz on top, just like in this cartoon. Disneyland is just a few miles away, and they’ve got an artichoke garden in Tomorrowland right next to the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant — which is how I discovered they grow well in Southern California.

Once those d__n things get on your property they are hard to eradicate.
