heart: what am I doing, getting myself wrapped up in some new boy drama? Heart: I'm a middle school kid! Sixth grade! I'm gonna shine! I'm gonna soar! I'm gonna-- BBBRRRINNGGG! heart: --be late!
I like Luann and I don’t think she’s boring at all. The creator has simply expanded the Luann universe so she’s not the entire strip anymore. And Heart’s getting involved in typical Middle School drama is fine. I just hope we see lots of other drama—as in her acting class etc. to make this time jump worthwhile. I kind of miss her still being a potential 4th grader and felt there was still lots to explore there but I’m sure the author has his valid reasons for the change. Little kids have such vivid imaginations and their world is so wide I kind of hate to trade it for Middle School but we will see what happens.
Can’t we just enjoy Heart as being Heart. She’s her own person even if her life has similarities to others. Heck, her life has some similarities to mine, but I don’t hear anyone commenting on that.
Tip for any kids reading the archives who haven’t entered middle school yet – it sucks. You think you’re gonna have new, exciting experiences, become a different person, make new friends. Nope. It’s just harder classes and new jerks to put up with.
My advice? Be popular or know how to be brutal in a fight. That or convince your parents to home school you and swear you’ll make an effort to learn properly.

Agreed. Let’s let her Middle School experience unfold. And remember MS crushes are pretty universal.
