John, for the sake of your sanity, do not argue with her about arguments.

    Lynn’s Notes:

I was convinced I could prove to the judge that the accident was not my fault.

I went to court once to defend, what I knew was, a case of an inaccurate radar gun. I showed up with with a certificate of accuracy for my speedometer which said that it was within one mile per hour faster than I was actually traveling. I handed it to the Judge and he then asked the officer to see the most recent certification for his radar gun and the officer said that he didn’t have it. The Judge said "Case Dismissed’ and as I was walking away I heard the officer say “I gave it to you last week Your Honor.” I walked away even faster upon hearing that! ;o)

Could just be where I am from, but I have never seen a car accident become a criminal issue by itself. The only likely charges from this are fleeing the scene of an accident while failing to report property damage (“shunt & bump”) or bodily harm to others (“hit & run”). The strip which discussed the accident showed Elly notifying authorities about the crash and a police officer was seen at the accident. Exactly what did she do wrong that she is now hit with a citation?
