And I think the opinions are actually unanimous on this subject. Wow, how often does that happen?

My SIL is a nurse. He works 3 12 hr days per week. More if he wants overtime. He told me that even if he wanted to, his bosses would never let him work 7 days straight. Cops, because damn near all Depts are shorthanded, often “get” to work 7 days a week for several weeks. My wife and I spent our last year before retiring working 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week. did this for 365 days-wife and I worked at different factories doing very different jobs-I was a manager in mine, she was final Quality Control in hers.

Some hospitals have their floor nurses work 4-10 hour shifts, or even 3-12 hour shifts per week. You don’t see many older nurses in those kinds of environments.

A seventeen-hour day would mean working till midnight, if they start at 7 am, or 1 amid the start at 8. (“17” is such an exact number that I’m guessing Dana didn’t mean it to be hyperbole.) Wouldn’t you have a long day like that before a big event like the donor’s banquet, rather than after? Unless of course long days like that are common at the HSP, in which case they’ve got a serious problem.

I thought the job offered Marcy more time off, not more time at work. She has 4 kids who need her.
