We’ve lost a little (or a lot) of the potential emotional impact this moment could (should) have had, thanks to the pies and other irrelevant interruptions. … But I’ll take it.
Nice ideas, but I’m having trouble facing up to the possible end of this strip. I’m about to turn 70, and Gasoline Alley has been part of my life for all of that time. So much of the America I grew up with has faded away.
When did Walt have time to write out notes? He came expecting a tribute to Orphan Annie, and this tribute was just sprung on him. He’s been on stage ever since.

Why do I get the feeling that this arc will wrap on Christmas Eve. With Walt getting a key for a room at the Old Comics Home?
