Spiders, snakes, and bats suffer from really bad press. Actually, they’re all necessary in any ecosystem, and, if you study them from an unbiased viewpoint, they’re ALL really cool. Cockroaches, now, nobody has ever been able to explain to me the advantage of cockroaches in an ecosystem. and they’re uglier than any spider.
Flipping through channels one night, came across that old movie Tarantula. It was in the middle and was making “roaring” sounds. Always have wondered HOW the maker of those horror movies knew what those monsters sounded like; ’specially the dinosaurs !
If you have spiders you have bugs. Spiders eat pests. Spiders feed on common indoor pests, such as Roaches, Earwigs, Mosquitoes, Flies and Clothes Moths. If left alone, Spiders will consume most of the insects in your home, providing effective home pest control.
I don’t really mind spiders but like you, I was bitten by a brown recluse. I had a swelling on my back (I apparently laid down on him in bed) that was around 6 inches high and wide. It was the most painful thing I ever endured. It took almost 6 months for the swelling and pain to dissipate and I still have two small black marks were the fangs went in my back. The area itches constantly, I mean 24/7! Good luck with your bite, I hope it heals well. I still don’t kill spiders indoors unless it is a black widow or brown recluse and unfortunately we have both here.

Disturbingly, true tarantulas only spin a flat web on the ground to assist in reproduction.

If it ain’t hairy, it ain’t a tarantula. And in Australia, this size spider would be par for the course.
