My bank recently installed a teller counter at chair height so that those who can’t stand standing or otherwise can’t see over the normal height counter can interact at their own height.
I shop using an electric shopping cart. In one home improvement store, I st at the counter for ten minutes while the clerks ignored me and tallked with each other.
I worked in a bookstore and a young girl came up to the counter to buy something and I didn’t see her—she never announced herself. The mom proceeded to chew me out. Many years later, I’ve got kids. I taught them to say excuse me when clerks don’t see them. Self advocacy is a thing. And yeah, maybe the counters could be shorter to make things easier…
