A teacher we had once handed a classmate a broom and told him to “practice for your future.” First off, sarcasm and denigration is no way to talk to a child, and secondly, housekeeping work is nothing to look down on. Trash collecting, housekeeping, dishwashing, waiting tables, etc are all necessary jobs and should never be sneered at.
Every one of my elementary school report cards said the same thing: “He needs to improve.” I think I have but there are none of my teachers left to show that to any more.
