Yesterday Alpha Cat comes in. Wife (who has a inhumanly good sense of smell) says he smells oddly. She checks further… …yup, faint skunk. He’s been hanging with his three stinky proteges.
During the wee hours of today.
The Lynx comes by for her snack (the wife has been putting food out for her, says it keeps her from going after the ducks, chickens and turkeys.) Pat has the camera with her, she wants to get a snap of her. She goes out (the Lynx is fairly used to her) and raises the camera. The Lynx is surprised and rears back….
…at this point a black and white cannonball races past the wife and hits the Lynx square amidships while she’s on her hind legs, bowling her over. Lynx legs it.
Turns out Alpha Cat, while having a detente with the bigger felines, decided that there was a clear and present danger to Pat in the form of a Lynx. The Lynx was too close to a family member (about 20 feet) and he rushed to protect her.
He was very jaunty after his victory.
Most people have cats. I’ll be damned if I know just what we have.
Today’s posts are delayed because my router died. I had to go out in the sleet and snow flurries and buy a replacement. And then there’s the joy of setting the new one up. I’m getting too old for this…
I’m owned by 2 cats and I like to joke that having 2 cats is like having 10 cats because no matter where I go I’m tripping over or stepping over one of them. They seem to be both everywhere and nowhere at the same time! One is napping next to me right now. I would bet that if I got up and walked to the kitchen, she would be standing either right behind me or running in front of me by the time I got there.

I think Three Cats might be good

Four Cats are the “Gateway!”

Because that leads to Five Cats

Then Six Cats

Which soon turns into Seven Cats

And Eight Cats

And before you know it becomes Nine Cats

Better ten cats than ten spitting cobras.
