Guilty, I do the same with my TVs. Heck, I do the same at my mother’s house when I visit. Just a habit, I guess.
Closed captions are useful with those many movies that blast your ears off with cranked-up noise, then reduce all talking to an inaudible mumble.
I use it all the time, drives other people crazy but I don’t care; my house, my rules.
When you read live captions such as newscasts or sports, sometimes the captioner screws up and it can be hilarious. Such as saying a player got kneed instead of took a knee.
Sometimes when I watch TV, I read a book between Commercial breaks. I find it’s a good way to use time that would otherwise go wasted.
