“Granted, we’ll probably have a little more time than that, but everyone with the influence and power to make it otherwise is working overtime to winnow those years down.”
I’m singin’ in the rain ~ Just singin’ in the rain ~ What a glorious feeling ~ And I’m happy again. ~ I’m laughing at clouds ~ So dark, up above ~ The sun’s in my heart ~ And I’m ready for love.
Let the stormy clouds chase. ~ Everyone from the place ~ Come on with the rain ~ I have a smile on my face. ~ I’ll walk down the lane ~ With a happy refrain ~ Just singin’, singin’ in the rain.
Plot idea: 97% of the world’s scientists contrive an environmental crisis, but are exposed by a plucky band of billionaires & oil companies. – Scott Westerfeld
Environmental catastrophe is twenty years away. Environmental catastrophe is always twenty years away. How can the progressives justify their ever increasing authority if the public is not kept in fear of impending crisis?
20 years ago global warming was to make snow nothing but a memory in a few short years! Later today I need to shovel some “memories” to get in the barn! From about 20 years ago: According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.
“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.
Is there an almost-irony in that I was dancing in place to “Iko Iko” when I read this comic?
I dance in place when I read the comics from two sites each day. Today I’d already danced through Sia’s “Unstoppable”, Demi Lovato’s “Confident”, Sam the Sham and the Pharaoh’s “El Toro de Goro” before Cyndi Lauper’s rendition of “Iko Iko”. Then came Grace Potter’s “Look What We’ve Become”. Next: The version from “Xena” of the Rascals’ “People Got to Be Free” (Heard their own earlier.), Plain White T’s “Easy Way Out”, Raphaella’s “Beautiful Like Me”, Hope Partlow’s “Who We Are”, Andra Day’s “Rise Up”, and Nina Simone really working “Feeling Good”.
I am old enough to remember being told repeatedly in the late 1980s through the 1990s that we were 8-9 years from a “tipping point” regarding climate change. I remember being told Manhattan could be inhabitable by the early 2000s if we did not act. (And before that, we were told that humankind was doomed by the 1980s due to over-population.)
Such doomsday proclamations, while good marketing and great for fundraising, are unscientific; and in the long-run are misguided and could be damaging to scientific research and future funding when these “sky-is-falling” announcements turnoff the taxpaying public.
… and 30 years ago we only had 10 years before the oceans became uninhabitable, and then 10 years after that, we only had 10 years. At least they are now stretching things out to 20 years; guess they think more people will fall for that and give up more of their freedom and earnings for “the good of the planet”. They haven’t gotten a single prediction right in the last 45+ years and we are to surrender our freedoms to the state for their “new, improved, and new predictions”

I’d like to see Trump dance — Maybe something a bit more strenuous than what his heart can handle.
