Wait, wouldn’t that also block Santa’s radar?

Radar still works, just doesn’t know where you are, i.e. smokescreen.

It doesn’t attract a lot of attention, but Arlo and Janis is a consistently great comic – sweet without being saccharine. That’s tough to pull off.

Serious question, yeah I know it’s the comics, Reynolds aluminum foils dates form 1947 so did the need for chaff cause the invention of aluminum foil?

I hated those trees with a passion. Mom had one for a few years that she’d deck out in a single colour, blue one year, red another.. ugh!

We had an aluminum tree with a little flood light and 4 different color gels on a rotating wheel. The tree would reflect each color as the wheel slowly turned.

If anyone missed it, JJ had an insightful comment on popcorn yesterday, and exchanged a few replies. Obviously this story is coming from his heart, assuming JJ CREATOR means what it says…

Let me just say that an aluminum tree, on a spinning base, with a color wheel shining on it changing the colors, was the best Christmas tree ever!I’d spend hours laying under it watching it spin. No “Christmas special” has ever approached that,

I thought the pink aluminum ones were the best. How more Christmasy can one get?

Aluminum strips used to confuse radar was called ‘window’ and was used in WWII by the British.

I worked as a B-52 crew chief and that aluminum “stuff” was known as chaff. It was actually much finer than the stuff those trees were made from and was expelled from compartments under the wing into the slip stream creating an aluminum “cloud” for incoming, radar guided missiles to detect thus missing the “buff”. Worked pretty slick over Nam as I recall.

Did “A Charlie Brown Christmas” really kill the market for aluminum trees or is that just an urban legend?

I remember those – they were very weird trees.

Prediction: They are about to watch ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. That show pretty much killed the aluminum Christmas Tree.
