Lucy is like a bottle of fine wine. Her being a fussbudget just gets better with age.

Some people just do not understand sarcasm.

Her mom has a trophy for it?

Doesn’t Lucy recognize a sarcasm when she hears it? Fuss-budget trophy? Pretty droll, Mrs. Van Pelt.

She also gets the naming rights for the Lucille Van Pelt Fussbudget Trophy.

Little does Lucy realize she will be showing that trophy to numerous therapists throughout her life.

Hate to break it to you, Lucy, you were the only one up for the trophy. Well that specific “World’s #1 Fussbudget” trophy. There are hundreds of them being awarded each year you know. Pretty meaningless to win three years in a row when the are hundreds of others who have gotten the same title for those same years.

I’m pretty sure I first came across this word in Peanuts, and I still use it today. It’s how I describe myself to my students when I’m emphasizing the importance of attention to detail. The actual term I use is “professional fussbudget.”
