I wonder if any of Papa Haydn’s soprano soloists asked him to make a few changes. (I’ve heard that Haydn hated sopranos, but I don’t know if that was true.)
Did they have female soloists in orchestras in Beethoven’s day? Somehow I doubt it. I doubt women would be allowed to play in orchestras in the 19th century.
I love panels two and three where little Schroeder places first one and then both hands over his mouth, transported to the stage of the Theater am Karntnertor in the Vienna of 1824 to be with Beethoven as he rehearses his Ninth and last Symphony.

Do not be afraid! I am sure he has turned a deaf ear to her complaints…

Beethoven did make one change. He fired that soloist and hired a new one.

I’m not as into this as Schroeder but I sort of wonder how it turned out.
